Rivalry

One of the best games of this age-old rivalry must be the Lord’s test that took place in 2021 where fans witnessed another thrilling overseas Test match.

Jasprit Bumrah and Shami scripted something for the ages. Facing the heat from bowlers and the fielders around them, both held on to the wicket with a strong determination. From being behind in the game slowly with the help of Shami and bumrah India claw their way back into the contest.

Bumrah and Shami

Shami notched up a brilliant fifty to frustrate the English bowling attack and Bumrah with a determined 34 saw India into a position where losing was not an option for the visitors. India declared the Innings and set a target of 275 for England to win the game.

while going on to take the field India’s skipper Virat Kohli made it very clear to his bowler’s that for the next 60 overs English batters should feel hell out there. And guess what Indian bowling lineup didn’t disappoint their skipper.

Burmah and Shami continued to dominate, claiming early wickets in England’s innings to seize control of the match. England lost both their openers in the first two overs of the chase. Despite England’s reliance on captain Joe Root, Bumrah’s bowling prowess thwarted their plans once again. Root’s dismissal after tea further dented England’s hopes, leaving their lower-order batsmen with a daunting task.

Siraj Dismissed Haseeb

Although India faced a brief scare when Kohli dropped Buttler off Bumrah’s bowling, Mohammed Siraj stepped up to the challenge, dismissing key English batsmen Buttler, Ali, and Curran. With only the bowlers left to bat, India’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure, led by Siraj’s disciplined bowling.

As the match entered its final overs, Bumrah’s tactical bowling proved decisive. He dismissed Robinson with a clever off cutter, sealing India’s victory. Siraj’s precise bowling, coupled with India’s strategic approach, ultimately secured their triumph in the match.

To sum up the contest, India’s lower-order resilience, led by Bumrah and Shami, changed the scenario of the game, coming into the day England were favorites to win the game. But determined Shami and Bumrah saw India to victory in a closely contested Test match. Their determined batting and disciplined bowling showcased the team’s strength and determination, highlighting the importance of strategy and perseverance in cricket.
